About Dr. Robles-De-La-Torre

Dr. Gabriel Robles-De-La-Torre is the founder of the International Society for Haptics and consults with organizations such as the European Commission. He is also the founder and editor of Haptics-L, the mailing list for the international haptics community. His research interests include touch perception in real and virtual environments and haptic rendering algorithms. Robles-De-La-Torre received a computer engineering degree from National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), and his MS and PhD degrees in neuroscience from Brandeis University. He is a former Fulbright scholar.

Dr. Robles-De-La-Torre's research has been featured in MIT's Technology Review, The Washington Post, Scientific American-France (Pour la Science) and Nature. Dr. Robles-De-La-Torre regularly reviews grants, projects, papers and inventions for international organizations. He is frequently invited to serve as program committee member in the field's leading conferences and workshops.  He served recently as an Awards Committee Member at WorldHaptics, one of the premier haptics conferences.
